Flumserberg Ladies Open
I’m home after 5 days of traveling in Europe with the final destination being the Swiss region Flumserberg. Located near the German and Austrian border and in the heart of the alpes, my parents decided to come with me on this road trip to work “from home” while also enjoying spectacular views and delicious food. We drove on Tuesday night and made it to Gams-Werdenberg Golf Club around 11am on Wednesday. The preparations went well during the Wednesday and we even had time to go for a swim in the mountain lake. The tournament was included in the LET Access Series, a way for me to get points and qualify for the Ladies European Tour (LET), gain experience as a professional golfer, and earn money for every cut I make.
The course was very narrow with waist high roughs that could equally well have been out of bounds since no balls could be found if they made it in there, so key to scoring well was to hit it straight off the tee. I started off a little rough but played my way back into the tournament with some great birdies and solid ball striking off the tee the entire first day. I shot -1 (71) the first and second day. I gave myself many great looks for birdies within 12 ft but matching speed and line was difficult for me those days, which made it difficult to score really low. I continued to play similar golf the last day too but a second of lack of focus on 18 cost me 2 strokes and I shot 74 (+2) to finish T23rd. However, it was a solid start to my LETAS season with great ball striking and a confidence boost that I definitely can be among the top 10 players on this tour.
I’m back in action in Sweden next week! Excited to play on some great greens at Tegelberga and see lots of familiar faces in my state.
