LET Card Secured- Full Status 2024
After a long December full of qualifiers, I am happy to have secured full LET status in 2024 as I finished in the top 20 in the LET Final Qualifier in Marrakech, Morocco. After falling short at Q-series to regain my full LPGA Status, I found some strengths in my game and managed to successfully go through the pre-qualifier and then play all five rounds under par in the final qualifier.
I played the pre-qualifier at Samanah Golf Club which suited me very well for the time being. I became very sick during the second day, played with a fever and headache, and highly considered withdrawing from the tournament. As my body wasn’t cooperating, it was very difficult to feel my swing and what I was doing, so luckily the course was fairly wide open with smaller greens, so as long I was in play and hit the greens, I could go get around with a decent score. My putter also heated up and I made a lot of amazing saves for par. During the second day, I made 6 birdies in a row on the front 9 and ended up at -5 for the day, taking lots of pressure off the final day when I was feeling really bad. I finished 8th in the pre-qualifier and then had 3 days to play practice rounds and prepare for the final qualifier. I slept the first full day and finally started to feel a little better as the fever went away. It was then 2 practice rounds at 2 different courses, Royal Golf Club of Marrakech and Al Maaden Golf Club.
Royal was a beautiful course with treelined fairways and bermuda grass. It felt like a combination of California with high eukalyptus trees and North Carolina’s bermuda grass. Luckily, I call both those places home so the course set up really nicely for me now when I was striking the ball a lot better and still had the putting with me. Al Maaden was more like Samanah with the wide fairways, but the greens were completely different and didn’t roll the lines as well as both Samanah and Royal. As the tournament started I managed to shoot under par in each round. Some highlights included seeing a bunch of gazelles jumping through the fairways, making a clutch eagle in the final round, and watching my playing partner make a hole-in-one. My mom caddied for me which was such a relief as I didn’t have to do everything on my own as I did at Q-series, and we had a lot of fun on the courses and at dinners. We finally felt a whole lot better towards the last few days and could enjoy the city center of Marrakech and the Moroccan culture for a day or two before we went back home to Sweden. Securing full LET status was a great early Christmas present to myself and I’m really looking forward to a great 2024 on both LET and Epson.
