DIO Implant LA Open
2nd week on tour and unfortunately I missed the cut by a stroke this week too. I feel like I’m very close to some really good golf but there are some mistakes I need to clean up a little bit, more so mentally than anything. I started off really well and made 12 straight par’s with many great birdie opportunities. I struggled with the poa annua greens with hitting them just on the inside on many holes in a row. I rolled the ball super well, but nothing seemed to drop. I made a great birdie on 13 and then missed my tee shot on 14 so it got stuck in the trees. Unfortunately I couldn’t quite come back after that and ended up +2 for the round, just outside the cut line.
I started off the second round very similar to the first. I made pars after pars and then birdied hole 17 (my 8th) by holing out a bunker shot and making the turn at -1. I bogied hole 2 and then made 2 birdies in a row to be inside the cut line by 2 with 3 holes to go. Of course I knew this and I started to think about it, and unfortunately also let my mindset and focus shift a little. Now I just wanted to hit the fairway, just hit the green, just 2-putt, just finish the round. Mental rookie mistake, because I proceeded to bogey, double, and bogey my last 3 holes to miss the cut by one instead. Oh well, gotta fail to learn, so next time I won’t do that mistake again.
It has been a mentally pretty tough week for me in LA this time. I will spend a few days in Lubbock, TX with my boyfriend Olle before heading to Hawaii for the next event. I think it is absolutely the best place for me to be at this point to just focus on my practice without getting interrupted at all (no people in Lubbock, TX), as well as spending time with Olle who won’t talk about golf at all if I don’t want to. Looking forward to charge up some energy and get going in Hawaii next week again.
