Lalla Meryem Cup
Second cut made on the LET and some great highlights in my game during the back 9 of the second round. I was quite far outside the cut line going into my last nine holes during the second day but made 5 birdies and 4 pars to get inside the cutline by 3 strokes. The course was very tricky with crazy greens, but they were rolling nicely and at a good speed. The driver had to be very straight, just like I experienced it in December in Morocco when I played Q-School at Royal Golf Marrakech. I thought it was a lot of risk and reward holes on this course that I really enjoyed as my driver was with me most of the tournament.
This was a cool event as it was co-hosted with the men’s PGA Champions Tour. We shared putting green and all the practice facilities with legends of the game, and they were super nice to us all. It was kind of interesting how they interacted with each other and had a very relaxed approach compared to all female professional golf events I’ve been part of. The men were playing games with each other, talking and joking around, and golf was not everything that mattered it seemed like. I also made some great friends and connections on the Champions Tour during the breakfasts and lunches as we all sat together while enjoying some great Moroccan food.
Overall another fantastic experience in Morocco. It’s been fun to be apart of something different these first few weeks on tour and all cred to LET how they go about things and create amazing events for us players. I can truly understand why a lot of players are leaning towards playing more LET now as the money and tournament schedule also go up. They do a really good job with the tour! I’m off to the U.S. to start my season on the Epson Tour. I’m stopping for a layover in Lisbon where I’ll stay in the city centre before moving on to the next adventure.
